Straight Lines - Sew a drawstring pouch

Level of difficulty: Easy

For beginners, it's important to practice sewing straight lines before you go onto all the fancy patterns.

Most sewing patterns can be done with simple straight stitches. Today, I'll share with you one of the first few patterns that I came across when I first started sewing.

In Color Order, managed by seamstress Jeni Baker, has numerous sewing tips and bag patterns (for free!). One of my favourite is her Lined Drawstring Bag tutorial which can be found through this link: http://www.incolororder.com/2011/10/lined-drawstring-bag-tutorial.html.

I've referred to her patterns for many of SewShiny's products! You don't need complicated accesorries to put this piece together, just 2 simple (or more if you want) fabric patterns will do.

Here are some of SewShiny's past designs! Ain't they lovely~

You can also invert the fabric dimensions to create a totally different look! (i.e the bottom fabric is shorter than the top)

Or customise a drawstring pouch to any size you need. Here's a tailor made drawstring pouch for a Sony Xperia Phone.

Make a beautifyl pouch while practicing your straight line stitches. Try out the tutorial and post your completed pouch online with the hashtag #incolororder and #sewshiny.

Have fun! :)
